Glossary of SIBA Trade Show Events - Please note that the 2011 Trade Show runs Sat - Mon rather than the traditional Fri - Sun.

Publishers & Authors: Please note that SIBA strives to build the best show possible and that our featured author slots go to the newest books first. Books that are newly published in the fall of 2011 and the winter of 2012 are considered before any other titles.

Author Panels Kick Off Author Lunch First 180 Days Party SIBA Supper Late Night Readings Southern Lunch Writers' Block Auction Moveable Feast
Author Panels: All of the author panels this year will take place on Saturday. Author Panels are scheduled either from 11 AM - Noon, or from 4-5 PM. We plan panels around topics for which we have nominated titles but we always try to do both a Children & Young Adult author panel. Last year we did panels around Southern Books, Paranormal, Cookbooks, and Illustrators. Any author on a panel should prepare to talk for no more than ten minutes and participate in a Q&A. Authors who appear on panels on will sign their books in the afternoon. 75 Books are required plus a $100 confirmation fee.
Kick Off Author Lunch: This lunch is on Saturday from Noon – 2 PM and features up to four authors. Expected attendance is 200. Authors pre-sign 200 books. Featured authors should speak for no more than 15 minutes. In addition to the pre-signed books, a $100 confirmation fee is required.
The First 180 Days Party: Modeled on the ABA’s successful Winter Institute Author Reception, this event will include authors of books that were published in the first 180 days of 2011. These are the books that booksellers will be selling and the authors that booksellers are eager to meet & greet. This is a signing event only limited to 20 authors. 100 books are required and there is a $100 confirmation fee per title.
SIBA Supper: This supper is on Saturday night from 7 – 9 PM, and features up to four authors. Expected attendance is 300. Authors at this event will pre-sign 300 books. Featured authors should speak for no more than 15 minutes. A $100 confirmation fee is required.
Late Night Readings: This is a late night event on Saturday night from 9:30 – 10:30 PM. Attendance is about 150 so we’d need that many books and the $100 confirmation fee. Each author reads aloud for no more than 7 minutes.
Southern Lunch: This lunch is on Sunday from 1 – 2:30 PM and features up to three authors. Expected attendance is 200. Authors pre-sign 200 books. Featured authors should speak for no more than 15 minutes. In addition to the pre-signed books, a $100 confirmation fee is required.
The Writer’s Block Auction - SIBA Book Award Feed-an-Author Silent Auction This year our Writers Block Auction theme is Let’s Get Hitched! Bring your money and outbid your neighbor at this first ever SIBA FunRaiser! 2011 Book Award Authors will go on the block. You bid for the privilege of taking them out to dinner. Once the going, going, gones are announced the winning bidders and authors are off to dinner together. The minimum bid is $50 and must be raised in increments of at least one dollar. Shuttles will be available to take folks to our family of restaurants. Every author package will include a restaurant gift card. A percentage of the proceeds will go to a local charity to me named later. No books or confirmation fees are required for author participation in this event. Only nominees, finalists, and winners of the 2011 SIBA Book Award participate.
Moveable Feast of Authors: This is the finale of the SIBA Trade Show and runs from Noon – 2 PM on Monday followed by a 2-3 PM signing extravaganza. This event includes 20 authors at 20 tables. The authors rotate from table to table visiting with booksellers over the two hour time span. The authors must be available for a private brunch from 11 AM to Noon where they get their marching orders. This is a great event for all involved and is sponsored by Inkreadible Sponsor Bookazine. 75 books are needed per author and a $100 confirmation fee.
