Tom Elmore PDF print email

Historian Tom Elmore’s life-long interest in South Carolina's role in the Civil War was sparked first as a kindergartener on a field trip to Millwood Plantation, which was torched by Gen. William T. Sherman's men in 1865, and grew from there. He would go on to earn a B.A. in History and Political Science from the University of South Carolina.

Elmore has lectured across the southeast on the Palmetto State's role in the Civil War. He is the author of Columbia Civil War Landmarks and has been published in several national and regional publications. He is also a book reviewer for Blue & Gray Magazine.

Tom Elmore spent more than fifteen years gathering hundreds of accounts from Union, Confederate and civilian viewpoints to put together the first book that focuses primarily on Sherman's invasion of South Carolina. Carnival of Destruction will be released by Joggling Board Press in May 2012.
